I live in Cowaramup, Western Australia, which is a town located at the northern end of the Shire of Augusta- Margaret River. I am a small business owner, photographer, lover of life and generally a people person! My family is is the most amazing group of talented, gracious and compassionate people I have ever known - let alone be the husband and father of. And the community I live in is best defined by one word - extraordinary!

 

One thing I know is that my incredible experience of community is not limited to my town. I know that each town in the entire Shire has the same experience and potential. For each one, I believe that as we grow, our communities growth and development needs to be wisely managed, whilst exercising responsible stewardship of all our natural and built resources at the same time.

Previous Experience:

I have a background in media, communications, small business, photography. I served as an elected member (Councillor) for a different Shire for five and a half years and completed the 14 module WALGA training course for Councillors. I have previously worked as the Marketing manager for the Geographe Bay Tourism Association. I currently operate my own technology-based small business in Cowaramup.

 

Aims and objectives:

I am to represent the financial, environmental and social needs of our ENTIRE Shire as much as possible. That means connecting with people from Augusta, Karridale, Scott River, Molloy Island, Karridale, Rosabrooke, Gnarabup, Prevelly, Margaret River, Cowaramup or Gracetown. That also means representing our farmers, primary producers, families, small businesses, tourism and hospitality operators and workers. My aim is to hear what everyone in the community has to say on matters that they believe are important.

 

A large part of this is being accessible to the Community groups that form the backbone of this Shire. To help facilitate this, I have recently launched the Facebook group “Our Voice Augusta-Margaret River” which is a platform designed to connect individuals and Community Groups together.

 

Creating meaningful connections with people is something that I am passionate about. I have the skillsets that will help me manage the business of Council, provide effective leadership, and make decisions that are well informed and balanced between what is healthy for our incredibly important environment and good for the growth and development of our community.

 

If elected to the Council I will promote and maintain integrity, independence, accountability and respect as I work for the betterment of our Shire-wide community. I will also endeavour to ensure that allocation of Shire finances and projects is spread EQUALLY and in a BALANCED MANNER across all towns and communities within the Shire.
